It’s official, we are four weekends away from Christmas Day. If you haven’t already, it’s time to start thinking Christmas presents. I know it sounds daunting, but we are here to guide you through it with tips and deals to make this Christmas special in these uncertain times.
We all have that person in our family who is almost impossible to buy for, it might be your dad who swears he doesn’t want anything and then smiles through receiving 20 pairs of socks, or a grandchild who wouldn’t be impressed if you got them the moon for Christmas! So here is list of gift ideas for the more difficult members of your family:
· Personalised items: you cannot go wrong with a personalized present. It could be a t-shirt, a candle, a football, a dressing gown, a mug, a wallet- you can personalize anything these days! Take the person you’re buying for’s favourite thing and personalize it- now you’ve taken something they love and catered it just for them!
· 2020 has been a stressful year to say the least, so why not gift someone a pamper hamper this Christmas? Filled with all things self-care from candles, bath soaps, chocolates, champagne and more, with all the time we are spending indoors nowadays, let’s make it luxurious.
· Vouchers! It may seem a lazy gift, but they are greatly appreciated. Buying people clothes right now is a risky game because who knows when we’ll be allowed out to wear them! But buying a loved one a gift card for their favourite shop gives them at least a year to cash it in and use it on something they really want. This is especially successful with teenagers and young adults.
Black Friday Week is happening NOW on Amazon.co.uk. They have all sorts of amazing deals on their site lasting up until 30th November 2020. If you do get some of your Christmas goodies here, please shop AmazonSmile and be sure to add Irish Community Services as your charity: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1085033-0. That way when you shop on Amazon, you are also supporting us.
If you want to gift your family something more santa-mental, have you considered a homemade gift? We have a vast collection of homemade, one-of-a-kind items from our very own craft group here at Irish Community Services, take a look and see if anything jumps out and grabs you:
Alternatively, join our craft group who meet on Zoom every Monday with CraftA London at 12:30pm or Tuesday at 11am and make something yourself to gift your nearest and dearest this Christmas.
We know this time of year can hit the piggy bank quite hard, so why not try your Irish luck and enter the Bexley Community Lottery and be in for the chance to win up £25,000!
That’ll cover Christmas and then some. Plus, when you enter, you will be supporting Irish Community Services- talk about two birds one stone!
Whatever you do this Christmas, the most important thing is that you spend time with your nearest and dearest. We know Christmas will be different this year, and challenging at that, but we hope you all will able to celebrate with your loved ones. Until next time… happy Christmas shopping!
