As a small charity rooted in South London, we see every day how loneliness touches people of all ages. While many older Irish people, especially those over 65, living alone, or far from family are at higher risk, loneliness can affect anyone.
That’s why we provide a wide range of free or heavily subsidised services to support the whole community, from welfare advice and social groups to befriending and wellbeing check-ins.
With your help, from 15th November – 15th February, we are raising vital funds that help us support the Irish and wider communities of Bexleyheath, Lewisham & Greenwich.

Why It's Important?

As the winter months are starting to set in, loneliness can feel heavier than ever. Not only is loneliness an emotional hardship, it can have serious health consequences.
Frequent loneliness and social isolation have been linked to increased risk of heart disease, stroke, depression and anxiety. Making it a serious public-health concern.
The World Health Organization have stated that loneliness can pose health risks
“as deadly as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.”
Many people who feel lonely don’t talk about it, 61% of
adults who experience loneliness have never told anyone they felt
lonely, often because of shame or fear of judgement.
