Agnes Forde (nee Henderson), President of Irish Community Services in Greenwich, Bexley and Lewisham received the 2016 The Irish Post award.
Agnes was born in 1923 in Kinsale, Co Cork. She has been involved with the Irish community in Greenwich since she moved to London in 1947 with her husband Sean.
She was a member of the Kinsale Association for many years and produced the Kinsale Overseas Newsletter from the mid 1960's to the mid 1980's. She has supported community organisations that bring people together and championed how to remain true to her cultural heritage while assimilating into the local community.
She is also President of Greenwich Irish Pensioners'Association and continues to act as an ambassador for her own community and a voice for an inclusive approach to services. She has made it her life's work to bringing joy and understanding to the wider community in South East London.
